Description
Splash Media Group is looking to expand our social and digital pod with an experienced creative content writer in our Kelowna, BC office. Splash is looking for candidates who are creative, collaborative, and have excellent writing and grammar skills. You must also be very detailed and have a strong understanding of marketing strategy and storytelling.
This position joins our existing social and digital media team and our successful candidate can expect to spend their days writing, researching, planning and executing strategy. This position works primarily within the social media team as our Social Media Strategists publish content to a variety of platforms and engage with communities and various audiences. This role also works with the creative team to offer ideas and strategic direction for graphic design, reels and other execution pieces. This position will also support web content creation and other digital content.
This is a position and industry that continues to evolve and grow so adapting, problem solving, patience and an eagerness to excel is essential. Having the ability to research, source and then write and adapt content to meet our client’s tone and strategy is essential. This position is not based on using AI as clients look for us to represent them in a way they can’t and so we expect a high level of commitment to learning and understanding our clients, the industry they are in and their overall goals.
Our agency works with a range of small to very large clients throughout Canada and the US, so having pride in your work and understanding the quality level you need to work at, is critical to your success in this position.
Also critical to this position is not working after hours! Our office hours are Monday to Friday 730am-4pm. The only exception to this is if a client has a crisis, then it is all hands on deck and you will join the whole Splash team in assisting in whatever our client needs. We work hard, support each other and support our clients to the best of our abilities.
Since our team in Kelowna, Kamloops and Prince George very collaborative, this is a work from the office role only.
Duties
- Research and write content in a fast paced environment
- Help develop new creative ideas and campaigns
- Be actively involved and proactive
- Collaborate with other members of the Splash team
- Implement and develop a strategy in partnership with the Social Media Manager
- Plan content ideas for short and long term
- Copywriting/copyediting
- Social monitoring
- Social media analytics interpretation and application
- Ability to work with clients (on occasion) professionally and efficiently
- Ability to see a larger marketing picture from social and digital campaigns and recommend actions
Qualifications
- Experience with content writing, both creative and technical, short and long form
- Ability to write both short marketing copy as well as impactful high-value SEO based content
- A great eye for design and aesthetics, a love for great copy, and the ability to write in different tone depending on the client and audience
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Be organized and able to work on your own and with others
- Have a strong passion to learn and grow.
- Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of writing and campaigns, making adjustments as needed.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in digital marketing.
- Advanced knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others)
- Skilled in marketing research, understanding data and how to apply it
- Strong project management, multitasking, and problem-solving ability
- Impeccable attention to detail
- The ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
- Must be eligible to work in Canada

Education
A formal education in communications, journalism or new media would be an asset to this position, however experience is also critically important.
